Chronic Stress Therapy
Does it feel like people in your life just don’t understand? Do you spend your nights worried about what will happen tomorrow? Does a disruption in the plan make everything feel chaotic? Are you having trouble making decisions? You may be chronically stressed.
What is chronic stress?
Many people have experienced acute stress, a psychological reaction to a specific event, like cramming for a test or delivering a large project. Fewer of us have experienced chronic stress, a consistent sense of pressure and overwhelm for a substantial period of time. Over time, chronic stress depletes us of our psychological resources.
How do I know if I'm under chronic stress?
Symptoms of chronic stress often include:
intense worry
unfocused thinking - feeling scattered
feeling stuck
fatigue
body aches and pains
sleep disturbances
increase in drug/alcohol use
withdrawal
chest pain/heart racing
nail biting
skin picking
How can chronic stress therapy help?
We help people learn to manage their stress. To combat the stress, we start by identifying, challenging, and changing stressful thoughts into more productive thoughts. We change the way you think to change the way you feel, a treatment called Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. We work together to identify what's working, and what isn't, about your life and support you in making the necessary changes to find relief from chronic stress.
At the end of treatment, you'll walk away with a new found sense of peace and tools that will last well beyond therapy.
